ABOUT US
The Govt. Arts and Science College,Kulathoor was established in the year 2014. At the same year, Department of Chemistry was started functioning as a complementary course programme for the B.Sc.Biochemistry main course. At the early stage of this department, only one guest faculty was appointed. A permanent faculty was joined on 2017.
VISION
To enrich students with scientific skills and equip them to live better way in the society.
MISSION
- To impart scientific attitude among students.
- To develop problem solving skills among students.
- To develop divergent thinking among students.
PROGRAMMES
Department of Chemistry serve as a U.G. complementary course programme for B.Sc.Biochemistry main course. The duration of Chemistry programme starts from first semester to fourth semester along with the B.Sc. Biochemistry main course.

EVENTS
- Department of Chemistry organised a Plastic Awareness campaign conducted in coastal areas of Poovar in collaboration with the Dept.of Biochemistry in 2019.
- Department of Chemistry served as an organizing committee team in connection with the National seminar on “Biosciences and Beyond:Diverse Dimensions” organised by Dept.of Biochemistry on 6th & 7th of January 2020.
- Department of Chemistry and Dept.of Biochemistry jointly organised a science exhibition in connection with the science day celebration on 25th February 2021.
- Department of Chemistry, Dept.of Biochemistry and Dept.of Zoology together organised programmes like Book review, Speech and Quiz in connection with the Reading Week celebrations on 26th June 2021.
