Welcome to Govt. Arts and Science College, Kulathur

Govt. Arts and Science College, Kulathoor, established in 2014 is known to be the government college situated in the southern-most tip of Kerala. Along with the decades old Vocational Higher Secondary School, Technical School and L.P. and U.P. schools operated by the Govt. of Kerala, this institution forms an educational hub based in the hamlet of Kulathoor.

The college affiliated to the University of Kerala, offers three undergraduate courses – B.A. English Language and Literature, B.Sc. Biochemistry and B.Sc. Geography– and one post graduate course – MA English Language and Literature.

Since its inception, the college has catered to the educational and progressive needs of the students in the fishermen communities of Poovar and Pozhiyoor. The location of the college is of convenience for students from the nearby centres of Neyyattinkara and Parassala, when earlier youngsters seeking higher education were required to travel long distances to Trivandrum city in pursuit of academic exposure.

The institution aims to provide holistic education, focusing both on academic knowledge in the respective fields of study and learning the values of communal living by direct involvement with the local life in the area. Identifying the crucial role of students in nation building, we strive to provide our pupils with hands-on experience in matters of public concern, giving space to voice out their opinions and evolve as true individuals. Additionally, the college gives importance to the physical and mental well-being of students, catering to their needs by engaging them in sports and other physical activities, often encouraging them to participate in championships at various levels of competence. Special care is also provided towards catering to the mental well-being of the students, with timely introspection aided by the faculty.
